The Nature of Artificial intelligence
Melanie Mitchell
Professor at Santa Fe Institute, United States
AI is all around us, conversing with us, answering questions, recognizing faces in photos, transcribing speech, writing essays, generating code, and much more. Rapidly improving AI is poised to play a much bigger role in all our lives. In this lecture, I will describe how contemporary AI works, how “intelligent” it really is, and what our expectations, and worries about its near-term and long-term prospects should be.
